GMOT is the author's project of art enthusiasts Genya Mikov and Olga Tumanova, and since our names are so fatefully formed - GMOT to be.
We entered the MGAHI Surikov already having strong commercial experience. The idea to create GMOT came in the process of learning, storing study artworks that no one had any idea what to do with.
A bunch of paintings in the basement and interest in them from acquaintances, prompted the idea to create an unprecedented online gallery that unites buyers with art and artists. We offer a unique selection of works of art at fixed prices, the cost of the work is always influenced by only one factor - SIZE.
Our mission is to help young professional artists monetize long academic hours one hand, and on the other hand: to help people who do not have a professional education to acquire a worthy art object.
The philosophy of GMOT is simple - to bring art to the masses, no matter how ambitious it may sound. Analyzing the art market and the habits of people in Russia, we came to the conclusion that people without an artistic background often do not think about purchasing art objects, considering it a luxury or a whim. There is also a reverse situation, when a person buys something for quite decent money, but the choice is made intuitively.
At GMOT, we have laid down the philosophy of win-win, when the deal is fair for both parties. Our customers can be confident that they are purchasing professional work done by an art student as part of a curriculum. This means that the artist at that moment had no commercial thought, because if it weren’t for the GMOT gallery, these works could well have been thrown away or burned after graduation.
Each work is created under the supervision of a teacher, then evaluated by a commission for viewing. Thus, while working on a painting as part of the curriculum, the student sets himself the goal not to sell it (this is out of the question), but to pass an exam in the subject and in the final to receive an artist’s diploma
The second important point for our buyer is the potential investment value of the painting. Most famous artists are graduates of great art academies. Thus, the buyer gets the opportunity to become the owner of a painting of the early period of a genius recognized in the future.
No less important - and perhaps even the most significant idea for the GMOT gallery - is to support young artists: we want to give them the opportunity to earn some money at least for new working materials.
